Family[]

When Marack's mother, Colonel Jarra Tell Morrath died in action in 2769, they decided to have her Honor Child even though they already had two children. The entire family was planning on being together for Jarra's birth but there was a last minute change of plans when K13116 in Kappa Sector urgently needed help. Their commanding office was killed and they asked Marack to go in as an emergency replacement and salvage the situation.[1]

Marack went to K13116 and Gemmena, Jaxon and Gemelle went to a military base in a near by system. Within hours of arriving, Gemmena went into labor and Jaxon and Gemelle rushed her to the hospital. Hours later, Jarra in a portable incubator was rushed to the emergency portal and portalled to Earth on a pre-empt.

The plan was that as soon as Gemmena's medical treatment was complete she would take Jaxon and Gemelle to Earth and that Marack would join them as soon as he could, but because of quarantine procedures he couldn't leave immediately.

What they didn't know what that Hospital Earth had very strict rules, that they could delay if they felt that the parents were sincere.

As soon as Jaxon heard the plan, he threw a fit and said that moving to Earth would ruin his life. He wouldn't budge on his threats that if they forced him to go to Earth he would kill himself. Within a few days they finally talked him around and Gemmena messaged Jarra’s Hospital Earth Child Advocate with their new arrival time. But, he told her it was too late, that Jarra would now be raised as a ward of Hospital Earth. There was a week deadline for parents to claim their child, and the week had passed a few hours before her call. She asked for an exception and he said that he considered it because of her need for medical attention and the long journey from Kappa Sector, but since she hadn't even started her journey yet. He claimed that her parental points evaluation were extremely bad so he decided against it.

The Child Advocate said that my mother scored appallingly badly because members of Betan clans were more likely to re-invent portal technology than to turn up on Earth to claim a Handicapped baby.”[2]

Then he told her that the conversation was irrelevant as Jarra had already gone through anonymization processing, been allocated a new identity number and name, and sent to a long term Nursery.

Gemena was horrified and took Jaxon and Gemelle to Earth to talk to the Child Advocate in person, he refused to see her. Clan council got involved at that point and at first used diplomacy working it's way up to the board members, without any results. They then sent a menacing legal challenge which was ignored so then sent in Dragon. The board members were so terrified of Dragon that they finally admitted the truth, by this time they would have gladly turned Jarra over to the Tell clan just to get them to leave them alone. But they couldn't, they had no way of finding out what Jarra's new name was and where she was at.

In the past, a hospital earth board member abused his position by blackmailing wealthy parents of an immune syndrome child, so when it was discovered, a new process was put in place where no one could access the information that was held in their genealogy computer.
